The Springfield Mandolin Orchestra is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit dedicated to providing educational performances and events throughout the Metro Springfield area.
March 4, 2017 7pm-9pm Concert - South Hadley, MA
The Springfield Mandolin Orchestra will be performing on Saturday, March 4th from 7-9pm at the First Congregational Church in South Hadley, MA. The program consists of an introduction and brief history of mandolins in western Mass by Will Melton, a performance of "Rags, Riffs and Reveries" and a suite of original compositions by Northampton's Mando Paradiso, and featuring the World Premiere of the third movement of "Strinnennia" by Michael Bell. Other works include variations on traditional Irish melodies to usher in Saint Patrick's Day, and lastly, a performance of Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. Tickets online $12 and $15 at the door.
The Springfield Mandolin Orchestra currently has bookings for private performances, February 12, 2017 at Loomis Village in South Hadley and March 25, 2017 at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke. If you would like to book the orchestra for your private or public event, please contact us. The orchestra is always looking for new members. If you play mandolin, or any other instrument in the mandolin family, and can read music, you are welcome to join. There is no cost to be part of the orchestra, just the ability to commit to Monday night rehearsals at 7pm.
